If You Want to Go Far, Go Together

If You Want to Go Far, Go Together

We feel and see it all around us. Women are rising to demand equal rights, equal say, and equal pay. Change is in the air and it is an exciting time.

“What Is It to be A Powerful Woman Today” is a series of podcasts that explore what that change will look like and what it will take to achieve it.

We’ve already covered quite a bit of territory in our first three episodes, looking at breaking the silence, understanding how we got here, and the importance of women claiming the power they already possess.

This is not power over, as we’ve been accustomed to think of it, but power with—relational power. Feminine power.

In our fourth episode, If You Want to Go Far, Go Together we examine one of the most critical issues: the necessity of (and struggles we face) supporting and championing each other.

There has been a scarcity of opportunities for women, and so, understandably, we have been conditioned to compete with each other. This has divided us in ways that are deeply disempowering. We aren’t just held back, we hold each other back.

But as I discuss, becoming aware of our own unconscious conditioning and being intentional about standing for each other can bring about a collective power—a wave of positive energy that can transform the existing power paradigm.

One of the single most important things we can do is look for and become allies. The women (and good men) who will support us and whom we can support. This not only builds our confidence as women leaders, it makes the journey a whole lot more fun.

Please join me as the conversation about women and power continues with my friend and interviewer, Mary Reynolds Thompson.
