Cherine Badawi

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Cherine is delightfully unconventional. Having grown up between the Middle East and North America, she speaks several languages and learned early on how to navigate and bridge the wisdom of multiple worlds. As an adult, her passion for connection and culture helped her travel, work and make her home in five different continents. This uniquely global lens and passion for inclusion has informed the way Cherine shows up for her clients—helping them thrive and inspiring them to create cultures of courageous leadership and belonging in the workplace and beyond.

Cherine has a Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies through a Rotary World Peace Fellowship that took her to Japan. She is a seasoned meditator and has been a Certified Spiral Up coach since 2018. She is also an avid musician and a founding member of the Thrive Choir.

Breanna Hatcher

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Breanna comes to coaching with 13 years of “leading while woman” under her belt. Having held leadership roles in human resources in both the financial services and tech sectors (think E*Trade and Visa International), Breanna is deeply knowledgeable of the challenges that modern leaders face, and uniquely skilled at helping her clients lead with their natural strengths and become the best version of themselves. Inspired by what she loved about HR, Breanna draws from a robust tool-kit of knowledge, strategies that help her clients achieve both personal and professional success. She also runs a leadership program that has over 300 graduates.

Breanna has been a Spiral Up coach since 2016. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University, a Master’s degree in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco and her coaching certification from The Coaches Training Institute.

Aryeh Shell

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Aryeh works primarily at the intersections of racial, gender and climate justice. Having lived, worked and traveled in over 30 countries, she is an advocate for women’s rights and leadership around the globe. For over 20 years, Aryeh has focused on building leadership and collective power within individuals, communities and organizations and helping to transform our world so that everyone can thrive. She brings an equity-based, multi-cultural lens and competency to her work.

Aryeh holds two Master’s Degrees in Education: Equity and Social Justice and International Relations and is a Certified Integral Coach through Integral Coaching Canada. She is also trained in mindfulness, somatics, yoga, Theater of the Oppressed and trauma resilience through Organic Intelligence, The Work that Reconnects and the Strozzi Institute. Aryeh has been a Spiral Up coach since 2018.

Randy Roberts

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Randy has a decades-long track record in helping executives around the world experience breakthroughs in their own productivity and effectiveness—as well as that of their people. Having been an educator, consultant, senior executive, strategist and program leader for global businesses and educational institutions, Randy specializes in helping leaders thrive during times of rapid growth. Whether she’s building nuanced people strategies or helping brave leaders successfully navigate the human side of change, her dynamic style and relatable humor engages participants, stimulates learning and inspires action.

Randy has been a core team member since the inception of Spiral Up and is responsible for the training and development of over 100,000 people worldwide. Her client list includes VMware, TD Ameritrade, Applied Materials, Dolby, Intel, NetApp, Oracle, ABC-Disney and Apple.

Ben Schick

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Ben has been an active advocate for systems-wide culture change for over two decades. His leadership has brought social-emotional workshops to 100,000 U.S. middle and high schoolers with Challenge Day, a program that dramatically reduced bullying and suicide. He also developed the global Up to Us initiative, which encouraged consumers to become better citizens and help shape a world that works for everyone. Whether Ben is inspiring students in the classrooms or impact driven leaders in the boardroom, he is dedicated to helping his fellow humans create powerful results and more resilience in their lives.

Ben has been a Spiral Up coach since 2017 and helped co-design the Spiral Up Inclusive Leadership program. He has an M.A. in Organizational Development, from Antioch University. His clients include: Stanford Healthcare, the City of Oakland, Kaiser Permanente, Women’s Earth Alliance, Institute for Gender Partnership, and Cal State Fresno University.

Zev Aaron Schiller

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Zev is an energetic and engaging executive coach, trainer and “Social Good Strategist.” Having worked at innovative companies like Walmart, AT&T, Toyota, and Saatchi & Saatchi, Zev has experience leading innovation programs in sustainability, emotional intelligence (EQ), and wellness. He brings his passion for positive transformation to his coaching role and is gifted at helping leaders achieve lasting behavior change in themselves, their people, and their teams.

He has been a Spiral Up Coach since 2018. Zev has a BA from Sonoma State, is a coach and trainer for Yale University’s Emotional Intelligence Lab and is certified in coaching by the Interchange Counseling Institute.

Peter Chandonnet

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Pete has spent the past thirty years inspiring mindful living and positive change as a coach, facilitator and senior leader. He’s got experience in leadership development, experiential education and environmental land management, and has worked for organizations like The Nature Conversancy, Outward Bound and The San Francisco Conservation Corps. With a specialty in technology and healthcare, he coaches leaders at every level—from manager to C-Suite—and is passionate about teaching individuals and teams how to be effective, productive, and balanced.

He joined the Spiral Up team in 2018 with a certification from Falling Awake coaching. He has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science and a masters degree in Forest Ecology from The University of Michigan. He’s also a certified yoga instructor and mindfulness leader. Clients that have benefited from Pete’s work include Sutter Health, UCSF, Apple, Google, Nike, and Tides Foundation.

Gwen Gordon

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Gwen is a creative problem solver who found coaching after a successful career where she created Muppets™for Sesame Street and solved blue-sky design challenges for innovative organizations like the MIT Media Lab and award-winning design firm, IDEO. As a coach, she pulls from her experience as a creative, entrepreneur, and trauma therapist, making her uniquely qualified to help women thrive creatively and emotionally in high pressure environments.

In addition to being a coach, Gwen is an international thought leader in the field of adult transformative play. Trained at the Coach’s Training Institute (CTI), Gwen co-designed CTI’s mastery level coaching course based on her insights on play. She has a BA from Wesleyan University, an MA in philosophy from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and certification as a trauma therapist from the Somatic Experiencing. She has held faculty positions at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and Holy Names University and recently published the Amazon bestseller, The Wonderful W. She joined the Spiral Up team in 2020.

Christy Abele

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Growing up as the middle of three sisters, Christy often found herself an unofficial mediator, advice-giver and champion. So coaching other women came naturally to her—even before she became a coach. Her experience as a woman in tech, and a non-profit board member helped solidify her passion for helping underrepresented voices succeed. As a coach, Christy focuses on empowering individuals to reach their potential by maximizing their own resources and resolve. She’s especially gifted at sparking transformation by helping her clients become more authentic, effective and productive versions of themselves.

Christy is an ICF-certified coach. She has a BS in Business Administration from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and an MA in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University. In addition to her coaching work, she is an Enneagram practitioner and specializes in high-stakes interpersonal communication. She’s been a part of the Spiral Up team since 2020.

Eliza Ramos

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Eliza has coached and consulted for global companies in the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya. She has been a keynote speaker for the Stanford Social Innovation Review, BlueCross BlueShield, 1440 Multiversity, Be Social Change, and leads trainings at universities such as UC San Francisco, UC Berkeley, Harvard University and University of Minnesota. Her writing has been published by the United Nations, North Shore LIJ, UNICEF and the Columbia Social Work Review. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Eliza is a certified leadership coach through the International Coach Federation. She holds an M.P.H. from Harvard University and an M.S.W. from Columbia University. She is certified in mediation and conflict resolution, wilderness emergency medicine, and Reiki. Originally from Beaverton, Oregon, she currently resides in Oakland, California.

Amy MacClain

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Amy has a unique blend of creative and organizational mojo and a passion for courageous changemaking. As a Program Director, Instructional Designer, Training Director and DEI Consultant, she’s coached leaders and teams through both operational and social emotional aspects of creating truly inclusive cultures. Having led, facilitated and performed for over 30 years, Amy creates practical, engaging learning experiences to help people to build resilient, equitable and accountable spaces, working interactively to dismantle discriminatory policies and practices. She also shares her love of transformation as a musician in concerts and workshops with a catalog of over 100 original songs.

Amy has presented to more than 100,000 people and her curriculum has reached half a million. Her clients include Golden State Warriors, UCSF, USC, Cardinal Health, Anita Borg Institute, and Gartner. She has a BA in Psychology from UC San Diego and advanced training in Nonviolent Communication, Social Emotional Learning, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-informed Mindfulness and ReEvaluation Counseling. Amy joined Spiral Up in 2021.

Mazin Jamal

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Mazin Jamal is a public speaker, artist and certified coach. He is the founder of Holistic Underground: a leadership and organizational development agency for social movements and businesses. He honed his craft working with leaders and teams around the world, from Malaysia, Ghana and Sudan to the urban heart of the San Francisco Bay Area.

From capacity building and strategic planning to communicating across difference, Mazin has cultivated a unique approach based upon experiential skill building, values and integrity alignment and compassionate space for learning.

As visionary tech start-ups and socially conscious businesses, dissatisfied or overwhelmed by traditional diversity and inclusion training began to call upon his work, Mazin has developed a unique approach which calls forth the integrity, creativity and wisdom of each participant, empowering them to apply concepts and insights into authentic action.

Yoo-Jin Kang

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Yoo-Jin Kang (she/hers) is a first-generation Korean American raised in Seattle, Washington, and the DC/Maryland area. She is a trainer, speaker, coach, and healing justice practitioner with over 10 years of experience combining antiracist equity principles, public health, and trauma-informed care into her work. Yoo-Jin received two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and focused on intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, and violence prevention. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health at UC Berkeley. Yoo-Jin is also a trained yoga instructor and Reiki Energy healer and enjoys infusing mind-body practices into her work. Outside of the office, you can find Yoo-Jin outside by the water, reading a good book, or caring for her cat, Matcha.

Kimalee Phillip

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Kimalee is an experienced social justice and organizational learning consultant; a facilitator, writer, educator and researcher with over 10 years of experience. She moves through this world as a secret poet, baby DJ and holder of space and emergence. Her work is deeply grounded in, and informed by Black queer feminist thought and practice.

Kimalee completed her Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights and Law and her Master’s degree in Legal Studies at Carleton University. Her professional experience touches on organizational transformation, equity and anti-oppression and workers’ rights. She has worked and built relationships across the globe, having worked with feminist movements and organizations from Bali to Ghana to Uganda and Grenada where her heart and body call home.

Onno Koelman

Executive Coach and Leadership Facilitator

Onno supports leaders to increase their individual leadership capacity and create high-performing teams and cultures. An NCAA championship athlete and citizen of three nations, he combines a trained intellect (BSME from Stanford) with a honed capacity for empathy and emotional attunement and an experiential understanding of what makes humans tick.

Trained at CTI and drawing on multiple modalities studied over the past 15 years, Onno has coached over 300 leaders and led hundreds of hours of trainings to help managers, directors, and executive teams engage in rapid, practical change.

His coaching clientele are typically intelligent, driven achievers who are technically superb in their respective domains – and now embarking on the adaptive challenge of developing their leadership to the next level.
